The New Galaxy Z Fold 7: Ultra Experience, Unfolded.

The New Galaxy Z Fold 7: Ultra Experience, Unfolded.

Samsung just dropped their latest foldable, and they're pushing it as their most innovative design yet. The big pitch? It's not just a phone that unfolds into a tablet—it's a super-slim, AI-packed powerhouse. They're calling it an "Ultra experience," and honestly, the specs look like they're gunning for that title.

The headline numbers:

  • Starts at $1,999.99 (before you factor in any trade-in deals).
  • Launch deal: Samsung's offering up to a $1,000 instant credit if you trade in an old device.

First Things Everyone's Talking About: It's Shockingly Thin & Light

This is the biggest physical change. Samsung says they completely re-engineered it to be the slimmest and lightest Fold they've ever made. We're talking real numbers here:

  • It folds down to just 8.9mm thick—that's over 3mm slimmer than last year's Fold6.
  • It's also 24 grams lighter than the previous model. You'll feel that difference in your pocket.
  • The front Cover Screen is now a more standard 21:9 aspect ratio, so it feels way more like a regular, usable phone when it's closed.
  • Crack it open, and you've got a massive 8-inch main screen staring back at you. It's the biggest canvas they've put on a Galaxy phone.

Built Tough, Despite the Slim Down

You'd think making it thinner might mean cutting corners, but Samsung's shouting about upgraded durability.

  • The frame is made from their latest Armor Aluminum.
  • The hinge is new—the Enhanced Armor FlexHinge—which is designed to close flatter and is supposedly tougher.
  • For screen protection, they're using Corning® Gorilla® Glass Ceramic 2 on the inner screen (a first for their foldables) and Gorilla® Glass Victus® 2 on the outside. That's the good stuff.
  • It's rated IP48 for water and dust resistance. (The '8' means it can handle dust, the '4' means it's protected from water splashes from any direction).
  • They even threw in a brag: ranked #1 in Screen Durability by the American Customer Satisfaction Index (ACSI®).

AI That Actually Uses the Big Screen

Of course, it's loaded with Galaxy AI, but they're highlighting features that make sense on a foldable.

  • Photo Assist is their flagship demo—it lets you erase or move stuff in your photos in a scarily good way.
  • Other tools like Sketch-to-Image, Split-screen video, and an Audio Eraser for cleaning up background noise in videos are all in there, optimized for the two-screen workflow.

The Rest of the Spec Sheet

  • Camera: They're leading with a 200-megapixel sensor for the main camera. The marketing says "ultra-detailed, ultra-clear," so we'll have to see how that plays out in real shots.
  • Battery & Life: It's got a 4,400mAh battery. Samsung claims that's good for up to 24 hours of video playback on a charge.
  • Colors: You can get it in Mint (only on Samsung.com), Blue Shadow, Silver Shadow, or Jetblack.

Bottom line from the site: Samsung's clearly trying to fix the two biggest gripes about foldables—bulk and perceived fragility—while doubling down on the AI and big-screen experience that makes the Fold unique. The Z Fold7 looks like their most aggressive push yet to make the foldable the main phone.
